I'm not sure why this bothers me so much- but it does - or maybe that I am paying twice as much as XM Radio and they can't even get a simple feature to work. So their "stunning backgrounds" just don't work. It's like the support document is referencing another app all together. I have looked up in the support section the issue and the applicable documents talk about buttons and options that don't exist. Essentially when I use the app, I am forced to accept a simple black screen as the app plays, even though I have chosen a back ground. While it does it's job as a streaming app in delivery of the content, it really bothers me that, as a selling point, a major feature doesn't work - which is the backgrounds. It's unthinkable to me when such a simple type of App has faults in it's functionality.
